Reggae Music: Ziggy Marley
Ziggy Marley is the son of the late Reggae great Bob Marley. Ziggy Marley much like his father has gained popularity throughout the world. Not only has he released many great albums he has also performed songs for movies and television shows as well as childrens cartoons such as Dora the Explorer and the movie Shark Tale. He was even in the Macys Thanksgiving Parade in 2009. Ziggy Marley resides in the United States, Jamaica, and a home in the Bahamas. Ziggy Marley has won four Grammys.
Ziggy Marleys career started in 1976 when he joined his father in singing, Children Playing in the Streets. The band later became known as the Melody Makers and performed many, many times including Bob Marleys funeral. The Melody Makers slowly declined and Ziggy went on to start his solo career. During his solo career he has released many albums. The most recent album was released in 2009. This album is called Family Time. In the year 2008, Ziggy is the featured artist on the song Crayons, which is on the newest Donna Summer album. He has done many duets with many different people including, Sean Paul and Dora the Explorer.
Ziggy Marley is married Orly Marley who is now his manager. They have a grand total of five children together the last one being born in 2007. Ziggy Marley is well known in the world of philanthropy as well. His own charity is the Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment which helps children. He has also been involved with Little Kids Rock which is a program in the United States that gives children free instruments and free lessons. Ziggy is an honorary member and sits on the board of directors. He has even visited some of the children in this program.
