Reggae MC

In many different forms of Reggae the form Ragga is very popular. Most of this music consists of electronic music. Some instruments that are used in this type of music is organ, synthesizer, drum machine, and sampler. Ragga came around in or around 1980 and gained popularity from there. This type of music originated in Jamaica like most Reggae music. One of the reasons that Ragga was so popular is cheaper to produce and create due to the electronic music and not having to purchase all of the expensive instruments that other genres have.

Ragga music is often called ragamuffin music which is a play on the term ragmuffin. The term ragamuffin is widely known as the music of ghetto youths. Unfortunately Ragga by itself is not as popular as it used to be but in different forms such as ragga jungle is widely popular.

The form of Ragga music was brought into mainstream culture by Daddy Freddy. In 1987 he teamed up with Asher D. and released the song Ragamuffin Hip Hop. This song became multinational and was the first to have the term Ragga in the name. One Canadian band called the Rascalz
