Peter Tosh: A Great Reggae Music Artist
Peter Tosh is one of the greatest known Reggae artists. He was one of the original Wailers with Bob Marley. He was nicknamed Steppin Razor and became a wonderful guitarist. In the 1960s Peter Tosh met Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer. One of the Wailers earliest venues was a place called Trenchtown. Trenchtown was a Jamaican slum. From playing in the slum, The Wailers became even more popular and eventually had their first hit in 1962 called Simmer Down. Peter Tosh played lead guitar for the Wailers.
In 1976 Peter Tosh started out in his solo career with the album Legalize it. The song of the same name became a national anthem all around the world for the legalization of marijuana. Many of Peter Toshs songs were targeted to the government and the running of the country. Many people agreed with Tosh but many in authority positions did not. Tosh often received many beatings from police officers and often showed concert goers his many scars. In 1983 Tosh went into self exile and went to Africa.
